Riverdance Irish Dance CompanyThe Riverdance Irish Dance Troupe comprises Irish Dancers who bring their own wealth of dancing talent and experience to Riverdance -- The Show. World Champion Irish Dancers, the troupe hail mostly from Ireland, but also from North America, Canada, the UK and Australia. Between them, the dancers can boast of literally hundreds of championships won in Ireland and abroad. Many have toured Europe and America, bringing Irish dancing to new audiences at festivals and competitions -- and bringing back new international influences and ideas. All started dancing at three or four years of age at local dance schools and progressed to World Championship level before being chosen to perform in Riverdance -- The Show. Trained in all aspects of Irish Dance, including solo and figure or team dancing, all of the dancers knew and competed against each other at various competitions, including the World Championships, held annually at Easter in Ireland. Riverdance -- The Show has given them the opportunity to perform together for the first time in a non-competitive way. Although many of the dancers had begun to pursue careers in other fields, they gladly put these on hold to participate in the ongoing smash-hit success story that is Riverdance -- The Show.
