A native of San Francisco, Athena studied fiddle from age 4, quickly ascending to championship level. Playing music from Ireland, Scotland, Cape Breton as well as her own compositions, she has worked with many artists including the Sharon Shannon band, and recorded her acclaimed debut album Journey Begun with fellow violinist Laura Risk.
